Is it true Seward Park as we know it is closing?
By: Felix Nazario (1990) on Dec 21, 2005 05:35am
I read the following on this website (In the News) and could not believe it:

The host school, Seward Park, is phasing out, so there will be room for new organizations there next year, said Kathleen Brady, a spokesperson for the Department of Education.

Does anyone know if this is true? Is Seward Park HS, as we know it closing?

Under the Board of Education's move to smaller schools, SPHS as we knew it will end this year. There will be multiple smaller specialized high schools operating in the building, now to be known as the "Seward Park Campus."

Unfortunately, I think this is true.

Hi there,

I was saddened to learn in 2004 that Seward Park would not be taking any new students and that after the last class graduated, it would be closed forever. I have not heard anything new since that time. Apparently, there is a concern about shrinking enrollment, increasing costs, and the need to consolidate educational services. That's all I know.

Peace,

Kenny
