SPHS was the first school that I attended outside of my Harlem neighborhood. In addition, my prior JrHS was all boys and Seward was coed. The cultural and racial diversity was new, but was just as important to my education as the academic subjects taught. I was on the track team and remember having to travel, on the train, all the way to the Bronx – Van Courtland Park for cross country training.   Submitted May 15, 2022
